Zombies appear in Zomberry Island during a contamination of blueberries in the city of Eastman. All zombies affected by the contamination are purple, with outstretched arms and a dazed, absent stare. These non-traditional "zombies" carry the mutating disease but do not seek to eat Poptropican flesh, only to spread the disease. They are scattered across the city, and during the quest, you must navigate around them and find out what caused the epidemic.
